For home users we provide recommendations for their home networks, repair their current setups and setup new systems. A lot of times the internet providers do the bare minimum when they go and setup/install routers and modems, leaving the customer vulnerable, security-wise, when they leave.
For business owners, we provide a no-charge evaluation of their network, in order to see what the current situation is, evaluate the system and then provide recommendations.
We love helping homeowners keep their networks secure, especially for parents with young children, as we know the bad guys are out there. We frequently evaluate homes for their networks and troubleshoot issues, especially with WiFi. One thing to note is that CenturyLink and Comcast technicians want to do things quickly and leave, and that is why we find modems frequently still setup with the default login and password. This leaves another vulnerability for homeowners to deal with. We correct those problems, and many others, to secure the networks.
The typical situation involves installing a home mesh network, which provides the best coverage currently, as well as getting the newest technology such as wifi 6. The best defense is having another network behind the internet providers router/modem. We also shutdown the wireless coming from the provider since that also creates another attack vector that is unnecessary.
We also rewire the network wires, typically in the furnace rooms, making them easier to get to and more efficient.
We understand small business, especially being one ourselves, and want to provide the best IT services to them. We also know the difficulty of being able to get the best quality IT support. We see where a lot of businesses are still only using the internet providers router/modem and nothing more. This is a huge cyber security risk and not recommended. The internet providers modem doesn’t provide the protection afforded by a system intended to protect business networks. We provide the correct defense in depth appliances, devices and systems, in order to protect the business systems. The system we install is business class, with a firewall, router, and the capability to setup cameras with recording capabilities.
The initial visit and evaluation is no-charge and we provide an assessment of the overall situation and a recommended path. We are experts in HIPAA compliance and understand the intricacies of the government law and how applying proper network configurations to meet the compliance requirements.
