HIPAA COMPLIANCE OVERVIEW
Menozzi IT Solutions specializes in, and an expert in, HIPAA Compliance and Management. HIPAA implementations are a very serious undertaking and shouldn’t be taken lightly. It takes specific backgrounds in cyber security, requirements implementation, systems engineering, some background in physical security, and several other fields – all fields that Michael has worked in, supervised and implemented.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
In order to begin the path to HIPAA compliance requires our engineers to perform an initial visit to your business to see where you stand on compliance. Unfortunately, we don’t find any local small business health care facilities in compliance, and most are way off. We understand this is a financial undertaking that most business cannot afford if they contacted some of the major players in the field. This isn’t the case. Will it cost a lot of money? Yes. But it’s not a back breaking undertaking financially when going with Menozzi IT Solutions.
Once we have a good feeling of the overall security posture, we will set up an initial meeting with the doctor and the office manager and anyone else the doctor would like present. We will provide our initial impressions and propose a network solution to secure the boundary of the office. This is essential so work can begin behind the protection of a layered defense.

POST NETWORK UPGRADE
Most of the time a new network will need to be installed since the majority rely on the internet providers modem/router combination for networking and wireless access. This isn’t adequate for home users, let alone business users and in the health care industry.
Once we have the exterior secured, we work out if there are any other security or technology upgrades required. This takes the form of new computers, possibly a server (but is a rarity with the current technologies available), wireless access points and other tech to help the office become more efficient. We provide recommendations on non-tech things such as computer desks, chairs and other ergonomic solutions.
HIPAA COMPLIANCE
After we get through the layered defense upgrades, internal upgrades and replacements, and other technology solutions, we move next to providing the HIPAA compliance recommendations. This will be another proposal to get the systems, documentation, and technical in compliance. Typically, getting a health care office into compliance is not a quick fix, but a marathon, extending to possibly twelve months.
We evaluate the HIPAA requirements, draw up plans for implementation, and then execute. HIPAA also requires training, which we can provide, as well as outside scans and internal scans. There are many other moving parts of HIPAA compliance, which we are very excited to talk about, and can setup a meeting at your convenience.
